Airplane Case Study essay
Airplane Case Study essay Airplane Case Study essay Airplane Case Study essaySouthern Airlines is one of the most successful airlines due to its low-cost strategy. At the moment, the company still holds a strong position in the market, but there is a risk that other low-cost airlines that simulated its model could enhance their position and tighten the competition in the industry. Therefore, Southern Airlines should come prepared to possible challenges associated with the appearance of new rivals, including the increasing competition from the part of companies operating in other segments of the market. At the moment, the bargaining power of suppliers is high, although it is important to place emphasis on the fact that Southern Airlines is totally dependent on Boeing as the only supplier, while there is an alternative company that can also supply aircrafts of the same class, Airbus. The dependence of Southern Airlines on Boeing is almost absolute because it cannot shift to another supplier since such a decision would need the complete r estructuring of the fleet and training of the personnel. The bargaining power of customers is high today because the recent economic recession has had enormous impact on the airline industry and caused substantial financial losses of many airlines because of the drop of the number of customers. In such a situation, Southern Airlines cannot compensate its losses by increasing the price because it has to keep customers interested in services of the company, while the price was always the main advantage of the company over its rivals. This is why today customers are in a privileged position, while Southern Airlines offers them maximum flexibility in booking and changing tickets providing minimal essential services for the lowest price. The threat of new entrants is rather low at the moment, because even those companies that currently operate in the market face substantial difficulties. Therefore, new entrants will have substantial difficulties, if they decide to enter the market right no w, when it is in a steep decline. In such a situation, Southern Airlines puts potential new rivals in a disadvantageous position because they can hardly offer customers lower price, while the price is the determinant factor for many customers today (Calder, 2012). As a result, the company should not worry much about the risk of the appearance of new entrants although there are options of existing companies operating in other segments to develop their low-cost subsidiaries. The threat of substitute products is medium because customers cannot always refuse from flights. Southern Airlines offer faster delivery of customers than any other means of transport, like trains, for instance (Littman, 2002). In such a situation, substitutes are likely to attract a part of customers of airlines, including customers of Southern Airlines, but still customers cannot refuse totally from using services of the company, especially the company offering services at the lowest price in the industry. Thus, t he competitive rivalry within the industry is tight at the moment and Southern Airlines should come prepared to confront the tightening competition. To put it more precisely, Southern Airlines faces the tightening competition from the part of low-cost airlines which simulate its own model and offer similar services at the similar price not only in those markets, where Southern Airlines does not operate, but also in those markets, where the company counts on a large share of the market. In addition, the company faces the threat of airlines operating in other segments developing their low-cost subsidiaries.

Getting A High Quality Semester Reflection Essay Sample
Getting A High Quality Semester Reflection Essay SampleFinding a high quality semester reflection essay sample can be difficult. This is because of the limited number of essay samples that are available online, and the fact that they are often sold as for a price much higher than what you would pay if you bought it in person at your college bookstore. When looking for an online essay, you want to take a few things into consideration. These include getting one that is original, and one that is professionally done. If you choose a program that does not offer online essays, and you do not select one that is done professionally, you will have a very difficult time getting the results that you desire. What you want to look for in an essay sample is one that is original and is written for a college essay contest. An essay sample that is not original is simply plagiarized work that is being offered for sale. A high quality semester essay should be written by someone who is well-versed in the English language. This means that you should not find essay samples written by professors or other college instructors. To get this, you will need to find a sample that is produced by someone who is writing on a certain topic and is trying to put together a cohesive essay. If the essay sample does not reflect their subject matter, you will find that the sample itself is not original. The quality of the sample is determined by the editors of the company offering the essay. To find a sample, you should take note of how many different editors have helped to edit the sample. If you are choosing a sample based solely on the number of editors who have edited it, you will find that you will not get the kind of writing style that you want, as well as the kind of essay that you need. One of the best places to look for a good essay sample is from a recently completed essay orfrom a recent essay contest. The reason for this is that if a school has just started an essay contest, this is usually an excellent opportunity to find a good essay. The editor will usually have gone through and edited hundreds of essays for the student who participated in the essay contest. This makes it easy to find a sample that is of high quality. If you are getting a good set of essays, you will then be able to get the exact kind of essay that you are looking for.

Maybe youve s truggled for a few months or maybe youve been trying to finish your book for years. Either way, weve got the best tips to actually complete your manuscript.#1 OutlineThe best way to finish a project (and finish it quickly!) is to have a plan. A bookââ¬â¢s plan is your outline. Now, not everyone is on board with book outlines. There are ââ¬Å"plotters,â⬠there are ââ¬Å"pantsers,â⬠and there are the in-betweeners (which we affectionately call ââ¬Å"plotsersâ⬠).However, even writers who finish books regularly and claim they are vehemently against outlines are usually outlining.Whats the difference between pantsers and plotters?ââ¬Å"Pantsersâ⬠tend to call their first draft something like a discovery draft, or draft zero, or, as Nora Roberts calls it, the piece of shit draft.Even though they say they donââ¬â¢t outline, this first draft is a type of outline. Even though Stephen King says, ââ¬Å"Outlines are the last resource of bad fiction writers,â⬠we know what he really means is, ââ¬Å"My first draft is actually a type of outline, and thatââ¬â¢s the method Iââ¬â¢ve found that works for me, personally.â⬠ââ¬Å"Prose is architecture. Itââ¬â¢s not interior design.â⬠Ernest HemingwaySome people love every single detail planned before they begin writing, while others think outlines make their stories too formulaic. The good news is, thereââ¬â¢s a type of outline for everyone! If there isnââ¬â¢t one already penned in existence, you can make. one. up. Ã°Å¸Ë ®There are so many different kinds of outlines:Extremely detailed outlines with a sentence for every action in each sceneBasic bullet points of the ideas you want to cover, or ââ¬Å"first draftâ⬠outlines where you plan your book by writing a version of itDraft zero, a pansted first draft, is one you can finish in roughly the same amount of time it takes you to plan and outline your bookYou donââ¬â¢t have to follow certain outline rules or g uidelinesyour outline is a tool for you and the way you work. So find a system that works best and utilize it!Pro Outlining Tip: If youââ¬â¢re more of a ââ¬Å"pantser,â⬠use what I call a ââ¬Å"liquid outline.â⬠Let it be flexible as your project progresses. For example, start with a bullet point outline of what you expect to happen, then as you write each chapter, go back and revise your outline when things change. This will keep you on track and organized, but it will also allow you the freedom and on-the-spot creativity of ââ¬Å"pantsingâ⬠your book.#2 Schedule your writing timeA great way to stay productive is to set a writing schedule in order to develop a writing habit. Here are a few questions to ask yourself in order to finish writing your book:Which days and times will you write? How long will you write in each session? Will you hit a time limit each day, or do you want to reach a certain word count?Further than scheduling your writing, you can schedule t he entire publication process to keep your book on track through production and into marketing! Having a timeline for drafting, editing, beta rounds, cover, and interior design, book release, marketing, etc., will help you work more efficiently and coordinate the steps that require other people. For example, many cover designers require you to book months, or even years, in advance! Scheduling and planning will help you stay ahead of possible roadblocks.#3 Budget and saveSelf-publishing might be more expensive than you think it will be! If you havenââ¬â¢t done it yet, take some time to research possible costs of publishing a book. For example, do you want a cover designer? A professional editor? Special marketing? Determine out how much it will cost and how long you have to save, then set up a savings plan to be sure you can cover these costs.Heres a breakdown of potential costs you have to consider when writing your book:If you have no idea how to set up a savings plan, Jenna Mor eci has a great video on budgeting and savings basics! If you donââ¬â¢t take the time to budget for book production and save ahead of time, you may happen upon a charge you werenââ¬â¢t expecting and arenââ¬â¢t prepared to pay. Then your options are to halt production to save for it, go without, or take a loan.Saving ahead of time is much better than all three of those options, so do your research! If you want more information on the publishing expenses you can expect, check out the video below- and the biggest cost might be the most surprising. #4 Be realisticIn scheduling, budgeting, and saving, be realistic about your goals and timelines. If you convince yourself you have four hours of writing time each day to finish a draft in a month, but you have a full-time job and three kids? Thatââ¬â¢s probably not a realistic goal. Maybe you can only write for twenty minutes a day. Maybe you can only write on weekends. Maybe writing a few paragraphs during lunch breaks is your onl y option for now.Be honest, be logical, and set goals you have a chance of achieving. While you can always find ways to write faster in order to make the most of that writing time, you still have to set reasonable goals.Nothing is more demoralizing than never reaching your goals.#5 Consider finding a team to hold yourself accountableI have a critique group with two other writers who are also writing fantasy novels. Every Sunday, we exchange the chapter we wrote that week, as well as the other two writerââ¬â¢s chapters from the previous week with our critique comments. When utilizing a critique partner or group, I recommend the following:Find people with similar WIPsSet up a schedule for swapping chapters, stories, poems, scripts, etc.Keep open lines of communication!Having other people expect your routine updates, as well as having other people to discuss issues and setbacks, will help to keep you on track with a writing schedule. At Self-Publishing School, theres actually a Maste rmind Community each student gets to be a part of where accountability partners run rampant. All these writers are looking for others to help them finish writing their books.#6 Make your WIP a part of your lifeLet your book take up a lot of real estate in your mind, your home, and your daily life.As you grow your writing platform and market your book, talk about your work in progress. Tell your friends and family about it.The more people who know youre writing a book, the more theyll ask you about it.This hold you accountable to actually finish writing your book. You can even make a Youtube channel, like mine, in order to have more people familiar with you writing a book. (This is also a great strategy to market yourself as a writer)If you make a physical outline or a moodboard, hang it by your desk where you can see it. Set your main characterââ¬â¢s profile sketch as your phone background.Make it where you canââ¬â¢t skip a writing day without thinking about it.This will keep your mind working toward solutions for your project every day.#7 Power through!Donââ¬â¢t let yourself get hung up on edits before your draft is finished. Donââ¬â¢t overthink itjust focus on getting through your first draft.Of course it wonââ¬â¢t be perfect! But, like Nora Roberts said, ââ¬Å"you can fix anything but a blank page.â⬠You canââ¬â¢t edit nothing! Donââ¬â¢t slow down, keep your momentum, and pound out that first draft! The hardest part of writing a book is finishing the first draft. After that, its all downhill so just get it done!#8 Avoid burnoutWriting burnout is when you feel like your work is trash. You think you have nothing important to say. Maybe you think no one cares about what youââ¬â¢re writing or maybe youve fallen into a pit of writers block. Donââ¬â¢t fall into this hole!Your first instinct when confronted with writing burnout is usually to stop writing. Never stop writing. Maybe this WIP is sucking your joy, but realize that it is nââ¬â¢t you, and it isnââ¬â¢t your writingitââ¬â¢s the project.Try swapping to something a little easier, like a short story or a poem, but set a time to return to your book. Donââ¬â¢t let so much time slip away that you get too far away to return. Remind yourself of the reason to write a book in the first place.Ask yourself these questions if youre feeling writer burnout:Where does your inspiration come from?Who are you writing for?Why is it important to you?Write down your motivation and hang it somewhere you can see itDonââ¬â¢t let yourself get burned out before you can finish your project. Take a breather, but make a promise to yourself that youââ¬â¢ll get back to work and set a specific time to do so.Moral of the story: plan ahead and DONââ¬â¢T STOP UNTIL YOUââ¬â¢RE FINISHED!Are you ready to start- and finally finish- your book? Turn in to our free training to help you go from blank page to published author in as little as 90 days.Yes, how long it takes to write a book can be as little as three months with our methods!

Cultural References in Translation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Cultural References in Translation - Essay Example What makes people a group are not only the affinities of its members, but rather the diversity its members have towards what stands outside of it: the action of culture is similar to the two faces of a wall, which both encloses and, on the other side, protects from what is unknown and obscure, from what is foreign. And the language is the most important (and most efficient) wall a group have to protect its society, its structures and its culture. As the language is the main vehicle (and product itself) of a culture, it is almost impossible to translate the same cultural reference in a different language: the final result will always be lacking something in the power of the form or in its deep meaning. Obviously, this problem is minimum in translations between two similar languages, such as Slovenian and Russian are, or between two societies which have several believes in common, but the problem still remains, because it is impossible to transpose both the meaning and its form, even if we consider the French and British societies, quite different for many aspects, such as independent linguistic origins, but extremely similar for history and development. It is a nonsense to think of a word as a simple 'label' of just one concept3, because a single concept, especially the ideas expressing historical or traditional objects, has different meanings, according to the culture or society it refers to. It is enough to consider the diff erent values that the word Renaissance has: although it points to a defined period of British history, the Italian word Rinascimento refers to a definitely different historical period (1385/1492) and, moreover, to a completely separate sets of values. This is nothing but an insignificant example, but it portrays the misunderstanding a cultural reference could generate: a word achieves a meaning depending on the environment it surrounds it, and in this case it would consist in a wrong interpretation of history. Transposing a meaning is sometimes even impossible: if we consider the fact that English Language has neuter form, while French has not, or if we consider the fact that adjectives have feminine forms in French and English have not (Mon cher/ Ma chre vs. My dear), it is easy to understand how difficult is for the translator to transmit both meaning and form from a language into the other. Even mere objects, such as houses, cars and so on, achieve (or miss) some original feature s of theirs when translated. The word bois describes a wood and evocates the features a wood has in France, describes the species of trees this wood is made of, recollects the sounds of the animals peopling it: it creates an image which has nothing to deal with a wood situated in New Zealand. Obviously this problem is avoided in movies, illustrated books, or children books, as the features of the objects are defined and the words are not requested to portray what has already been constructed by the image, but it remains in literature, especially when a word

The Silk Road and its effects on the economic development of India, Essay
The Silk Road and its effects on the economic development of India, China, and Southeast Asia - Essay Example India, China, and Southeast Asia were central locations along the Silk Road. The trade route brought together a number of civilizations, with the common denominator of their interaction being the long distance trade between them. The trade locations that the Silk Road covered enhanced the history of every single party. Cultures were exchanged and the foundations of economic growth and development were laid. The various dynasties that existed, including but not limited to Western Han (206 BCââ¬â24 AD), Eastern Han (25ââ¬â220), and Tang (618ââ¬â907) among others influenced the pursuits of each civilization involved (Boulnois, 2005). China was a key player in the long distance trade that made up the Silk Road. With the Silk Road named after the primary trade product, Chinaââ¬â¢s economy was undoubtedly heading for growth and development. The traded silk in this route came from China, among other traded goods at the time (Christian, 2000). The dominance of silk as a trade product in the Silk Road exacerbated the economic performance in China. Technologies were also exchanged; a scenario that best suited Chinaââ¬â¢s economy. Contributing traders in this pursuit were the Indians, Bactrian, Sogdian traders between the 5th and 8th century CE, and later the Arabs and Persians (Waugh,

Berkshire Hathaway Essay Example for Free
Berkshire Hathaway Essay Berkshire Hathaway Inc. is an American multinational conglomerate holding company, headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, that oversees and manages a number of subsidiary companies. The company wholly owns Geico, BNSF, Lubrizol, Dairy Queen, Fruit of the Loom, Helzberg Diamonds, FlightSafety International, and Netjets. It also owns half of Heinz and has significant minority holdings in American Express, Coca-Cola Company, Wells Fargo, IBM, and Restaurant Brands International. I have done a lot of research into Berkshire Hathaway and CEO Warren Buffet but have been unable to find a vision or mission statement. If I had to make up a vision statement that suitably fit Berkshire Hathaway it would be the following: ââ¬Å"Berkshire Hathaway strives to be the best-recognized, most highly respected, and most influential conglomerate company in the world.â⬠The mission statement would be: ââ¬Å"To provide top of the line services that significantly increase the growth of the companyââ¬â¢s agents and affiliates.â⬠I believe this fits this company perfectly because Berkshire Hathaway is notorious for its ingenious investing and services all thanks to a man named Warren Buffet who started out acquiring businesses. Buffet is one of the worldââ¬â¢s wealthiest men and a key influencer in the financial market. He is Forbesââ¬â¢ number 33 most powerful people and ranked among Time Magazineââ¬â¢s most influential people. His company was ranked number 1 in Barronââ¬â¢s 2013 ranking of the worldââ¬â¢s 100 most respected companies, number 8 in Fortune Magazineââ¬â¢s 50 most admirable companies survey, number 18 in Harris Interactiveââ¬â¢s reputation study of the 60 most visible companies, and Forbesââ¬â¢ fifth largest company in the world. In his 2013 letter to shareholders, Buffet spoke of his joy for working for such a successful company. He noted, ââ¬Å"No CEO has it better; I truly do feel like tap dancing to work every day.â⬠My vision and mission statement align appropriately with what Buffet has done and envisions for Berkshire Hathaway. Stakeholders: Internal- Board Members: Warren Buffet, Charlie Munger, Walter Scott Jr., Thomas S. Murphy, Howard Graham Buffet, Ronald Olson, Donald Keough, Charlotte Guyman, Bill Gates, Steve Burke, Susan Decker, Susan Decker, and Meryl Witmer. Computer Illiteracy :: Computer Illiteracy
Society is currently in a period of rapid technological change. Computers are becoming a household item as well as a highly advanced tool for most every workplace. The entire world is interlinked through the Internet and information is being transferred across the globe in a matter of seconds. Computers are getting smaller and quicker and the amount of information they can store is getting larger. In this information society that we are becoming, a new advanced form of literacy threatens to debilitate anyone who refuses to step into the computer age. Computer illiteracy endangers not only the individual but our nationââ¬â¢s economy. Whether you like it or not, computers are the new language and those who refuse to accept this will be left in the dust . Computer illiteracy must be addressed now or there will be a whole new population of specialized illiterates in America. There is no doubt that computers are firmly implanted in our nationââ¬â¢s daily existence. Everyday I use a computer at least once, either writing a paper, surfing the Internet or checking my e-mail. On a recent trip to the library to do research I was quickly escorted by a librarian to the variety of computer databases, which are the fastest and most current source of information I found a survey in Statistical Abstracts of the United States comparing students use of computers in kindergarten through college from 1984 to 1993. A total of 27.3% of students used computers in schools in 1984, while a total of 59.0% used computers in 1993. This shows a steady rise in scholastic computer use and these figures are probably greatly inflated by now in 1997. Sadly, many people refuse to face the onslaught of computer technology. A 1994 survey conducted by Dell Computers indicated the 55% of Americans are phobic or resistant to computers (Column). In addition, many important people, including CEOÃâ¢s of major companies, are rumored to be computer illiterate (Column). The former CEO of IBM even admitted to never using a computer (Column). Fortunately, PCââ¬â¢s are becoming more and more user friendly as the technology improves. Fewer errors, less maintenance and quicker functioning should encourage many reluctant people to finally step into the new era. Computer literacy requires that an individual be able to word process and have a basic knowledge of CD-Roms, database and the Internet. These are the basic objectives of computer literacy, just as composition may be the objective of regular literacy.
